Dept. Of Lame Boxing Promotion Gimmicks: De La Hoya's "Warning" To Pacquiao

A news release from Top Rank, promoter of Manny Pacquiao, says this:

"Oscar De La Hoya sent a personal message to Manny Pacquiao this week. While autographing boxing gloves for the 'Dream Match' promotion, Pacman rooted deep into a large cardboard box and spotted a red glove signed in black sharpie by Oscar. The personal message said -

MANNY

I AM GOING
TO KNOCK YOU
OUT!

OSCAR

Oscar added a little smiley face. Pacquiao looked at it, laughed and shrugged it off."

To which I say: A smiley face? Really? A smiley face. Sometimes I get why De La Hoya rubs people the wrong way.

I like the confidence Oscar is showing while being the enormous fighter in the fight against Pacquiao. It's pretty lame. All the better when Pacquiao wins.

Pretty brave, innit? I already was going to be in Pacman's corner, but this adds to that a little.
