Funny phrase.

Pacquiao could be better defensively, it's true. But he's a lot better these days than he used to be. It wouldn't surprise me to see him get better again by his next fight. - Tim Starks

As good as Pacquiao is, I think he would still be overmatched because he has inadequate defensive techniques to cope with Mayweather's arsenal. Just having the footwork and sidestep moves might not be enough. He needs to be learn some real genuine head movement. If you watch the first Duran vs. Leonard match fight in Montreal of 1980, Duran negated a lot of Leonard's shots by ducking and rolling his head away danger, from the direction of the punch and has great anticipation (reflexes). Pacquiao has a tendency to get hit flush in the head as shown in the Cotto and Marquez fights. If not for his resiliency, he could get severely injured and put away. The name of the game is minimize getting hit while inflicting your own punishment. I think Mayweather might be ahead of Pacquiao but just slightly and the consensus will be if he does not catch Floyd and end it early, Mayweather by scoring and accumulating points. Pacquiao must morph himself into a great defensive fighter to win this fight. But that is just my objective opinion - robert d

Nah, no need to pay step aside money. Pacquiao won't be ready until April or May at the earliest, and that should be time for Mosley to get ready if he beats Berto.

I'm not opposed to Pac beating Foreman at some point, but I'd rather see him fight Mayweather and Mosley first, in that order.

Thanks for the kind words. - Tim Starks

Excellent, perceptive article as usual.

For what it is worth, I think Pacquiao (Top Rank) should negotiate in good faith to get the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight done but don't allow themselves to be bogged down. Once Floyd plays games they should get GBP to pay Berto step-aside money and have Pacquiao fight Mosely.

If this cannot be done then they should commit to the winner of Mosely-Berto in mid year and to keep Pacquiao active, should take Foreman in March as a tune-up fight and also to piss people off with an 8th belt. - Jou Moer
