TQBR Radio 12/9: Amir Khan Vs. Devon Alexander Preview, Much More

If the pissing contest between HBO and Showtime’s boxing departments could accurately be depicted through the magic of cartoon satire, it would look just like the old Spy vs. Spy series from Mad Magazine (via). While more boxing is usually a good thing, and while healthy competition tends to squeeze blood from the figurative stone, feuding over big fight dates and holding fight cards across the street is mutually assured destruction in the long term.

The huge stone pillar dividing large chunks of the boxing community and preventing them from consistently working together doesn’t look like it’s weathering or wearing down all that quickly, so maybe the best recourse is shutting up and hoping for some laughs and a good fight or two in the meantime. Or complaining a lot.

This week on Queensberry Rules Radio, James Foley of Bad Left Hook and TQBR’s Patrick Connor utilize an array of disciplines within the realm boxing fanaticism, because there’s a lot of notable stuff going on. David Lemieux’s victory over Gabe Rosado on HBO needs recapping, and fights like Amir Khan vs. Devon Alexander, Tim Bradley vs. Diego Chaves, Matt Korobov vs. Andy Lee and maybe even Antonio Tarver vs. Johnathon Banks — they all need previewing.
