Bautista Rebounds with a Victory

Filipino sensation Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista (24-1, 17 KO) rebounded from his first professional loss, a first round blow out at the hands of Daniel Ponce De Leon in August, to cruise to a comfortable 12 round unanimous decision over Antonio Meza (23-4, 16 KO) Sunday morning in Manila. The judges scorecards read: 117-111, 116-112, and 118-110 On the undercard super flyweight AJ Banal looked impressive in his systematic destruction of Jovanny Soto over 9 rounds. Referee Ferdinand Estrella waived a halt to the contest at the 2:15 mark of the 9th round. The shows unusual 9AM start time allowed patrons to view Nonito Donaire’s eight round destruction of Luis Maldonado on big screen monitors that were set up to showcase the fight live from America.
