A Goal Attained

Tuesday, January 20, 2009, 9:15 PM CST.  That is the exact moment when I received the email from Thomas Hauser informing me that I had been voted into the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA).

The email was short and direct, the BWAA membership committee had reviewed my application and a half dozen on my writing samples and had saw fit to vote me in as an auxiliary member.  Needless to say my head nearly exploded in jubilation.

Ever since I started writing about the sport of boxing some three years ago, one of my long term goals was to gain membership into the prestigious BWAA.  It was just a personal goal.  I was not in search of validation of my writing skill, but to be considered a member of the same organization that boasts some truly great writers is something that I will always hold dear.
