Other Weekend Action Of Note: Andre Ward, Antonio DeMarco, More

In my excitement over Vic Darchinyan-Jorge Arce (I was part of a Showtime poll on the fight, the results of which you can read here) and a couple other fights I already mentioned, I left out a few noteworthy fights this weekend. I like super middleweight (168 lbs.) Andre Ward, so it’s crazy that I didn’t hype his potentially entertaining Showtime appearance tonight against the poorly nicknamed Henry “Sugar Poo” Buchanan, who’s tragically fighting one week after his sister died. Also tonight, middleweight (160 lbs.) prospect Fernando Guerrero is on the ESPN2 undercard, and if you have Azteca America, exciting welterweight (147 lbs.) Jesus Soto-Karass is back in action. Gofightlive.tv has a card tonight as well. On Saturday, not televised in the United States, top-10 flyweight (112 lbs.) Omar Narvaez does battle with up-and-comer Rayonta Whitfield. And don’t tune in late for Darchinyan-Arce Saturday; the opening bout — fun young lightweight (135 lbs.) Antonio DeMarco will face the strangely fading Almazbek “Kid Diamond” Raiymkulov — could be good, too.
