The Boxing Congressman

As usual with all things political, my day job prevents me from saying much about this video (h/t Politicker NY) even in jest, but I’ll offer the following scouting report:

–Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., has a nice stiff jab, hits with some power, offers some decent combos and possesses hand speed for a 65-year-old man. I also liked that when he was presented with a quicker opponent who moves better than him, he went to the body. It was his best work.
–He needs to tighten up his hooks, straight right and uppercut. Cutting off the ring isn’t a specialty because he’s flat-footed.

King isn’t the only member of Congress with a boxing background; in the spirit of even-handedness in coverage of both major parties, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has one, too. A photo from those days is below.
