Adrien Broner, Tomasz Adamek And The Rest Of The Week’s Boxing Schedule

The biggest fight of the week is still on for now (what a great phrase to start the schedule with) despite Adrien Broner facing felony charges over an alleged robbery. What can you even say about Broner at this point? He’s going to do dumb things, even if he can be fun in the ring (and on Instagram). Anyway, there’s not much else on besides Broner this week, that’s for sure.

  • Adrien Broner vs Ashley Theophane, Friday, Spike, Washington, D.C. In a fight that nobody except Ashley Theophane was asking for, Broner is fighting Ashley Theophane on the first “Premier Boxing Champions” show on Spike this year. Theophane isn’t an exciting guy and Broner likes to pose even when he’s got an overmatched opponent in front of him, so the fight seems likely to suck.
  • Manuel Avila vs Rene Alvarado, Friday, Estrella TV, Los Angeles. Featherweight prospect Avila faces journeyman Alvarado in one of Golden Boy’s LA club fights.
  • Francisco Santana vs Ed Paredes, Saturday, UniMas, Port Hueneme Calif. Santana, a gritty guy who gave Saddam Ali an unexpectedly tough fight last year, fights the limited Paredes in what could be a fun, lower-grade welterweight stoush.
  • Tomasz Adamek vs Eric Molina, Saturday, Integrated Sports PPV, Krakow. Faded Polish heavyweight warrior Adamek fights Molina, who you might remember as a Deontay Wilder knockout victim, at home.
