There was literally a huge variety of photos and moments that could have been used to represent all that happened last weekend in boxing: aesthetically pleasing and gratifying, moving and even regrettable. But the photo above — of Lucas Matthysse’s fist after punching Ruslan Provodnikov for over a half-hour — serves as a reminder of the lengths some will go to, to seize victory.
This week on Queensberry Rules Radio, James Foley of Bad Left Hook and TQBR’s Patrick Connor will be your guides through the shadowy wilderness of the Fistiana, armed with sarcasm, juvenile humor and opinions. You probably won’t survive. But at least you’ll get to relive moments like Provodnikov’s face disintegrating, Terence Crawford pulverizing Thomas Dulorme in a new division and Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. finally getting his just desserts at the hands of Andrzej Fonfara. There was an ugly incident on Twitter between everyone’s two favorite light heavyweights, but we’ll get to that. All in all, an educational two hours, good for the family (just kidding, don’t let your kids listen).
Oh yeah. Heavyweight championship, defense, Klitschko……. It had to be mentioned, sorry.
