It’s a really dead time for televised boxing right now; the biggest show of the week is a “Premier Boxing Champions” card headlined by lightweight prospect and 2012 Olympian Jamel Herring. That’s really it, more or less.
- Jamel Herring vs Luis Eduardo Flores, Tuesday, FS1/Fox Deportes, Bethlehem Pa. Herring, 30, is a former marine: expect to hear about it incessantly if you tune in. His team is looking to step up his competition this year, and possibly get him a title shot. Though his record indicates that he can whack a bit, Herring’s unknown Colombian opponent is unlikely to do much to advance that goal on Tuesday.
- Alex Saucedo vs Clarence Booth, Saturday, UniMas, Studio City Calif. Undefeated Top Rank welterweight prospect Saucedo fights Florida’s Clarence Booth, whose 13-1 record belies unspectacular opposition.
